Claiming on your health insurance can sometimes be difficult and stressful so it’s always to best to be prepared.
If you want a smooth claim process, simply follow these three easy steps to help you efficiently file your health insurance claim.
1. Check your policy.
If it is likely that you may be making a claim have a check of your policy documentation to become familiar with it. Focus on what type of cover you have, do you have add-on’s such as specialist cover, is there an excess on your policy? 2. Complete a Pre-approval form.
With all health insurance claims we suggest that ‘prior approval’ is requested well in advance of your treatment if possible. This requires you to fill out a form, however some insurers allow for some conditions to be pre-approved through an online portal. Once you have prior approval you can concentrate on your procedure and focus on your recovery. To ensure your pre-approval form is processed smoothly you need to arrange the following:
- Completed claim form (including the section completed by your GP).
- Estimate of costs from your specialist.
- Copy of the referral letter from your GP to the specialist.
- Any other relevant reports or notes.
3. Make Copies of all documentation and receipts.
As a precautionary measure, it’s always a good idea to make copies of your claim from as well as your itemised receipts in case there is ever a complication with your claim.
