Absolute Insurance Owner Jaynie Hudgell inducted as the 25th Legend of Canterbury Sport

Absolute Insurance owner Jaynie Hudgell was inducted as the 25th Legend of Canterbury Sport at the annual Sport Canterbury awards held on March 29, 2019. As the first woman to win a Gold medal in swimming in 1974 at either Commonwealth or Olympic Games level, Jaynie Parkhouse became a household name and has been an inspiration to many young NZ swimmers. This award is a fitting tribute to a true “Legend of Sport”.

Jaynie is pictured here with swimmers - Sophie Pascoe, who received an award at the event, and Anna Simcic, who has also received a "Legend of Canterbury Sport" award in the past.
